National Security Space Association and Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. Announce Inaugural RGi Scholarship Recipient

FAIRFAX, Va. – Sept. 4, 2025 – The National Security Space Association (NSSA) and Reinventing Geospatial, Inc. (RGi) are proud to announce U.S. Space Force 2d Lt. William Kirby as the recipient of the 2025 NSSA RGi Scholarship. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding young professionals dedicated to advancing national security and innovation within the  space and geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) domains.

About the Scholarship Recipient:
2d Lt. Kirby is assigned to the 53d Space Operations Squadron, where he supports command and control for the Wideband Global SATCOM constellation. His accomplishments include developing a Crew Commander Course to enhance operational readiness, delivering over 100 hours of space effects during National Training Center Rotation 25-03, and earning both the Army Achievement Medal and the Delta-level Team of the Quarter Award. A Virginia Tech graduate, he co-founded the Space Training Advancement and Readiness Squadron (STARS) and organized a 180-cadet ROTC space conference. His technical background includes a research appointment at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, where he presented findings to the National Reconnaissance Office and was named a John Mather Nobel Scholar, and service as a Principal Investigator in NASA’s L’SPACE Academy, leading development of an acoustic de-icing system for planetary missions.
