SSGF

Today’s warfighters are using increasingly sophisticated geographic information systems (GIS) with foundational maps comprised of elevation data, features, imagery, and analysis overlays. But what if these systems have foundational maps that differ? Understanding the integrated system of technologies, people, processes, standards, and data that delivers a Standard and Shareable Geospatial Foundation (SSGF) is crucial for interoperability.

SSGF ensures that warfighters (Army, Marines, Allied Forces) will use the same feature data, the same elevation data, and the same imagery. It means everyone will use the same foundational, digital map even when sharing map datasets across organizations.

RGi understands the SSGF, how it works, and how it is evolving. Our experience in using the SSGF includes creating interoperability across Army systems to achieve a common map.
