4th annual RGi Scholarship awarded to Adrian Seemangal!

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) is pleased to announce that Adrian Seemangal has been selected as the recipient of our 4th annual $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering, given in partnership with The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF).

Adrian is a junior at The University of Maryland (UMD), College Park, where he is majoring in Geographical Sciences and minoring in Russian Studies.

He first became interested in geospatial sciences through remote sensing, as he was fascinated by the concept of using false-color imagery to reveal information that our eyes cannot see. Upon joining UMD’s geography program, other aspects of geospatial sciences, such as GIS and spatial data science, also captivated him. More recently as an Analytic Methodologist Intern for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), he applied expertise in scientific analysis techniques to inform analysts on various quantitative methods they can use to solve GEOINT issues.

“Adrian is the perfect student to receive our RGi Scholarship, said RGi CEO, Stephen Gillotte. “He’s an advanced thinker who sees a challenge and is excited to create solutions. He’s a leader, a problem-solver, and he’s in it for the greater good. He’s also a martial arts instructor…Adrian does it all! I’m thrilled to have him in our RGi family.”

Adrian’s personal research interests include drone LIDAR mapping, and using artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) for remote sensing. Outside of his educational and professional work, Adrian does undergraduate research in spatial ecology for UMD’s Bill Fagan Lab, and serves as the Vice President of Flower STEM, a club dedicated to showcasing creativity within STEM fields.

RGi offers 4th annual $10,000 scholarship

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) has partnered with The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) to offer its fourth annual scholarship as part of the 2021 USGIF Scholarship Program.

The $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering will be awarded to an undergraduate who is committed to becoming competitive and constructive in the geospatial and engineering disciplines.

“RGi has a long history of supporting students, and we are thrilled to continue these efforts with USGIF through our annual RGi Scholarship,” said RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte.

Every year, USGIF awards scholarships of various amounts to exceptional students studying the geospatial sciences and related fields. In total, USGIF has awarded more than $1.4 million in scholarships since the program began in 2004.

3rd annual RGi Scholarship awarded to Beth Wiberg

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) is honored to announce that Beth Wiberg has been selected as the recipient of the 3rd annual $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering, given in partnership with The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF).

Beth is a senior at The Ohio State University, where she is on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in GIS in December 2020.

Over her college career, Beth has sharpened her mapping, geocoding, and data analysis skills as a GIS Intern for AECOM and a GIS Research Assistant for the College of Social Work. As an Intern for Blue Raster, she also honed her skills in data visualization and the storytelling aspects of GIS. Outside of her GIS work, Beth spent three years serving in The Ohio State Army ROTC, where she went through rigorous physical and mental training, learned about military structure, and enhanced her leadership skills.

“I am thrilled to have Beth as our 2020 RGi Scholarship recipient,” said RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte. “She is the ideal blend of student, leader, and humanitarian, which aligns perfectly with the core values of our company. She is also a self-described “big thinker,” and I look forward to her many contributions to the GEOINT community and our nation.”

2nd annual RGi Scholarship awarded to Kevin Mercy

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) is honored to announce that Kevin Mercy has been selected as the recipient of the 2nd annual $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering, given in partnership with The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF).

Kevin is a senior at the University of Southern California (USC) where he is on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Archaeology, with a double minor in Human Security and Geospatial Intelligence and Computer Programming in 2020. In one of his stellar recommendation letters, Kevin’s professor described him as “the textbook definition of a self-starter,” and someone who “epitomizes our nation’s calling for the dedicated and inquisitive learner.”

For the past several months,
Kevin has worked with The Aerospace Corporation and the USC Spatial Sciences
Institute to create open source 3D GIS data service and analytic platforms that
will help organizations to store, serve, and analyze 3D data, which is a
wide-spread issue within the GEOINT community. In his spare time, Kevin serves
as a board member of The Canterbury USC Foundation, where he helps run a hot
meal food ministry program on USC’s campus for underprivileged college students
that serves approximately 100 meals each week during the academic year.

“I am thrilled to have Kevin as
our 2019 RGi Scholarship recipient,” said RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte. “He is the
perfect composite of engineer, scientist, and humanist, which directly aligns

The $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering will be awarded to an undergraduate who demonstrates financial need and is committed to becoming competitive and constructive in the geospatial and engineering disciplines.

“RGi has a long history of supporting students, and we are thrilled to continue these efforts with USGIF through our annual RGi Scholarship,” said RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte. “We need to continue to build a diverse base of students who are passionate about the future of GEOINT.”

1st annual RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering awarded

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) is honored to announce that David Runneals has been selected as the first recipient of the $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering, given in partnership with The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF).

David is a senior at Northwest Missouri State University, where he is on track to graduate with a degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in 2019. In his application essay, David wrote: “I have grown passionate [for] integrating data and technologies along with research and development, falling very much in line [with] my ultimate goal of working for a humanitarian relief or disaster response organization, where I am able to impact human lives while making data more open and accessible.”

For the past several years, David has served as a volunteer with the National Alliance for Public Safety GIS (NAPSG) Foundation’s Search & Rescue GIS Working Group, where he was an integral member of the disaster response team during the 2017 Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. As part of his work with NAPSG during the hurricanes, David provided technical support and developed innovative solutions to challenges facing first responders on the ground in Puerto Rico, including support with transportation information and data integration across disparate crowdsourced data efforts.

“David is the perfect recipient of the first-ever RGi Scholarship,” said RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte. “We’re thrilled with both his scholastic achievements and his humanitarian focus, and can’t wait to see how he continues to contribute to the future of GEOINT.”

The $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering will be awarded to an undergraduate who demonstrates financial need and is interested in or studying both the engineering and geospatial disciplines.

“RGi has a long history of supporting student growth and development, and we are thrilled to continue these efforts with USGIF through an annual RGi scholarship,” said RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte. “We need to continue to build a diverse base of students who are passionate about the future of GEOINT.”
