RGi and USGIF volunteers deliver 150 food packs to children in need

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) and United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) volunteers joined together in the fight against hunger, packing more than 150 food packs for elementary school children in need.

The Power Pack Program (P3), run by Food for Others, is designed to provide food to young students in our community who may be at risk of hunger between school meals.  RGi and USGIF volunteers packed and delivered over 150 P3 packs for students, each containing two breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack and drink items.

Since early 2017, RGi-ers have packed over 1,050 P3 packs representing more than 3,500 pounds of food.

RGi partners with USGIF to offer $10,000 needs-based scholarship

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) has partnered with The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) to offer a new award as part of its 2018 USGIF Scholarship Program.

The $10,000 RGi Scholarship for Geospatial and Engineering will be awarded to an undergraduate who demonstrates financial need and is interested in or studying both the engineering and geospatial disciplines.

“RGi has a long history of supporting student growth and development, and we are thrilled to continue these efforts with USGIF through an annual RGi scholarship,” said RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte. “We need to continue to build a diverse base of students who are passionate about the future of GEOINT.”

Every year, USGIF awards scholarships of various amounts to exceptional students studying the geospatial sciences and related fields. In total, USGIF has awarded more than $1.1 million in scholarships since the program began in 2004. “USGIF and RGi have partnered to recognize and support those students with a geospatial and engineering background who are committed to becoming competitive in this market,” said USGIF Director of Academic Programs Dr. Camelia Kantor.

RGi returns from another fun corporate trip!

For the seventh consecutive year, the RGi team and guests spent time away together on a year-end corporate trip. This year’s four day, three night event was held at the beautiful Ritz Carlton in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The RGi team spent their days relaxing in cabanas on the pool deck, sailing the warm Florida waters on a catamaran and enjoying the company of their friends and colleagues. Of course, we did manage to squeeze in a small amount of corporate business between all the fun.

RGi wins follow-on task order in support of CTIS Program Office

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) won a follow-on task order as a subcontractor in support of the Combat Terrain Information Systems (CTIS) Program Office, specifically supporting the Instrument Set, Reconnaissance and Surveying Capabilities (ISRSC).

ISRSC is a set of digital tools that provide the Engineer with the capability to rapidly perform reconnaissance, construction site planning, engineering project management, surveying, inventory management, and obstacle reporting.

RGi will provide systems and software engineering, development, testing and integration services for the latest upgrade to the currently fielded system.

RGi supports Hurricane Maria relief efforts

The 2017 Hurricane Maria was the tenth most intense Atlantic hurricane on record, causing catastrophic damage and a major humanitarian crisis in both Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Two months later, less than half of Puerto Rico has access to basic services such as electricity, many are still without potable water, and communications are limited with cellular service interrupted.

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) is committed to helping relief organizations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin islands, and has made a corporate donation to the American Red Cross on behalf of our friends at the American Geographical Society (AGS). In addition, RGi supplied a new portable generator to a fellow GEOINT community member whose family remains without reliable access to electricity.

RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte advises UMD grad students on GEOINT careers

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc’s (RGi’s®) CEO Stephen Gillotte presented to a group of University of Maryland’s (UMD) Center for Geospatial Information Science graduate students on geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) careers in the Defense and Intelligence space.

Steve’s discussion with the students centered around what career options students have both pre- and post-graduation, including roles within academia, government contracting and direct government employment. Steve shared his own personal story of how he took his passion for GEOINT and created a company in RGi that works with numerous Defense, Intelligence and Federal agencies to make an Immediate ImpactTM on the safety and security of our nation.

While still in its first year as a Masters-level program, the UMD GEOINT program expects a surge in enrollment given the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia area has one of the highest concentrations of GEOINT jobs in the United States.  For more information on the UMD GEOINT program, click here.

RGi publishes open source GPEP tool

Under the GRIDS II contract, RGi created an open source, lightweight geospatial performance enhancing proxy (GPEP) tool for cascading services that can be utilized in both a connected and disconnected environment. GPEP allows interoperability between systems by using the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG) standard while allowing a tactical operating center (TOC) to access map data even while in a disconnected state.

The RGi team utilized the Distributed Common Ground System-Army’s (DCGS-A) existing MapProxy software and added a user interface (UI) and geospatial standards that are NSG compliant. The new tool gives users the capability to download services locally and create NSG-compliant GeoPackages in a SQLite data format, which can then be loaded onto mobile handhelds, web tools and other mapping platforms.

RGi’s new GPEP tool will be distributed to both the Army Geospatial Center (AGC), as well as pushed back to DCGS-A. For more information, visit the project’s repository at https://gitlab.com/GitLabRGI/nsg/gpep.

RGi CEO Stephen Gillotte discusses career planning with Virginia Tech students

In preparation for his new role on the Virginia Tech Computer Science Department’s Advisory Board, Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc’s (RGi’s®) CEO Stephen Gillotte spent time with the Virginia Tech Computer Science Resources Consortium (CSRC).

Steve participated in several student events where he met with all levels of undergrads to discuss life after graduation, working with recruiters, how to negotiate offers with both small and large companies, as well as the everyday challenges of the work environment. During these exchanges, Steve emphasized the value of having a personal brand, community activism, extracurricular activities, and the importance of continuous learning throughout a career.

RGi names Glenn Gillis Director, Business Development and Strategic Growth

Reinventing Geospatial®, Inc. (RGi®) has appointed Glenn Gillis as our new Director, Business Development and Strategic Growth. In this capacity, Gillis will lead RGi’s growth with new and existing Military C4ISR customers.

“With growth that has nearly doubled each year since our founding, we are thrilled to have Glenn join our team, providing the strategic direction we need to continue our rapid trajectory,” said Stephen Gillotte, RGi CEO. “Glenn is a senior BD executive who has both the high-level executive presence and the ability to roll up his sleeves as a hands-on executor.”

Gillis brings 34 years of C4ISR, cyber, comms/networks, high-performance community and Intel systems experience to RGi. Prior to joining our team, he was the Senior Business Development Executive at CACI and SURVICE Engineering Company, where he provided strategic direction and led business development efforts on the C4ISR market portfolio in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, resulting in more than $300M in new business.
